With the exception of a two-year stint in the armed forces, Edward Allen has lived in the Pensacola community all of his life. A few years ago, his doctor suggested for him to take up a hobby such as painting to help alleviate his depression. This is the reason why he paints.
Being self-taught, it was a struggle at first. However, his family encouraged him to continue and Edward has seen improvement in his work during the few years he's painted.
"Painting gives me a great feeling of satisfaction," says Edward. "Even though I am disabled, knowing that I can create something that will be enjoyed and last long after my passing brings me great joy."
Prices for Edward's art range from $250-$500. He sells his work through retail, wholesale, consignment and commission venues. You can view his work at his studio "Unique Mountain Arts and Crafts at 356 C.C. Allen Road, Burnsville, NC 28714.
